Palmyra Historical Museum

This historic site, once a hotel and tavern, now showcases 23 themed rooms filled with memories and memorabilia that highlight Palmyra’s significant contributions to over 200 years of American history.

Visitors can explore permanent exhibits that cover a wide range of topics, including local businesses, government, policing and fire services, medicine, education, photography, art, furnishings, tools, toys, and dolls. The museum delves into extensive military history, as well as the Erie Canal and the Underground Railroad, presented through captivating maps, research materials, and artifacts.

Additionally, guests will discover important local ties to the Civil War, Women’s Suffrage, and the Book of Mormon, along with notable figures such as Winston Churchill, Joseph Smith, Admiral Sampson, and Palmyra's founder, General John Swift.
